GMB union Justice for Joseph
30 June 2022

GREAT TO SEE A CAMPAIGN BACKED by the GMB union come into law. Joseph Brown-Lartey, 25, died in 2014 when an Audi A6 being driven by Addil Haroon ran a red light at 80mph at a busy crossroads and smashed into him.

His parents Ian & Dawn spoke at the 2014 GMB Campaigns for Justice Conference, where they received sympathy and support from the regions membership.

Together with former MP for Heywood and Middleton Liz McInnes they delivered a petition with tens of thousands of signatures to Downing Street and the proposed law change was first announced in 2017.

June 2022 the law has been changed, now judges will have the power to hand down life sentences to dangerous drivers who kill and careless drivers who kill while under the influence of drink or drugs.

The GMB trade union family, fighting for justice.
