Just a few thoughts on what we can do to help one another in the heat:

Ensuring members are carrying resealable water bottles.

Agreeing extra breaks on behalf of Porters and Warehouse colleagues (see Hot Weather Guidance attached)

Porters and drivers must avoid direct sunlight for long periods. Hats, Lip Protector and Sunscreen should be available to them as PPE.

Remind drivers that entering properties is at their own discretion. Large blocks of flats may need to be avoided to prevent over exertion.

11am - 3pm will be particularly gruelling and it's worth remembering what Hayley Tatum said: 'there are no individual productivity targets in ASDA Retail'.

Make sure managers are meeting their duty of care. Colleagues suffering with heat exhaustion may exhibit some of the following symptoms: Headache, Loss of Appetite/Feeling Sick, Pale and clammy skin, Excessive thirst.
Finally, ASDA should be going above and beyond to protect colleagues and extra attention should be paid to reasonable adjustments at this time.
