Paramedic strike updte 17 Aug 2018
17 August 2018

As you know the GMB is in dispute with the employers over the legacy paramedic JE review and we are calling for all GMB members who carry out the role of paramedic to take strike action which will commence on Saturday 18th August at 6am and will continue throughout until 8am on Sunday 19th August 2018.

This dispute affects only those GMB members who were HCPC registered as paramedics before 31 August 2016 and does not include NQPs since their introduction in September 2016.

We are not asking other groups of staff who may be qualified paramedics but have different substantive roles to join this action i.e. SPTLs, AP, CP, OM or sector managers.

The strike action will be for a full, continuous period of 26 hours and will affect either day, night or, late/link shifts of those individuals involved in the dispute.

GMB Paramedics will not cover overtime from Friday 17th August at 6pm until Monday 20th 8pm.

The no cover for all external events will remain as continuous action from 6th June 2018 until further notice.

This call for action follows a full lawful ballot of our paramedic membership in which 84.5% stated they were prepared to take strike action on this issue. We are therefore expecting full support for this call to action.

If you experience any problems on the day, please do not hesitate to contact your GMB representative.
