GMB ASDA trade union update 12 May 2020
12 May 2020

GMB ASDA union update for colleagues - You may have seen that the government had committed to increasing the number of tests for COVID-19 to 100,000 people in the UK per day. More testing will mean the country will have a better understanding of the true number of cases, making sure people who are ill are really clear about the steps they need to take to look after themselves and giving peace of mind to those who don’t actually have the infection.
Another benefit of offering testing is that it allows frontline workers who are playing such an important part in keeping the country going to return to work where they are self-isolating because they have symptoms but don’t know if they actually have COVID-19. We are all critical frontline workers and have been offered the opportunity to be part of this increase in testing.
The test is completely voluntary but we hope it will give our colleagues and their families some reassurance and allow us to support them in the best way possible.
Colleagues who self-isolate because they or someone in their household has symptoms will be given the chance for the person who is ill to take a simple test at home. Your line manager will support you to submit the necessary information to access a test.
As always, please speak to your manager if you have any questions and continue to check the Coronavirus WalmartOne page for up to date information.
