18 May 2022

Neil Smith, Political Officer for GMB North West & Irish Region Trade Union, meets with Justin Madders is the Labour MP for Ellesmere Port and Neston, and has been an MP continuously since 7 May 2015. He currently undertakes the roles of Shadow Minister (Business and Industrial Strategy), and Shadow Minister (Future of Work).

About Justin

I live in Little Sutton with my wife and three children. I grew up in the constituency and became the first person in my family to go to University where I gained a Law degree.  I qualified as a solicitor in 1998 and at the same time I became a councillor.

Following a career in employment law defending the rights of working people to be treated fairly and with dignity at work, I was first elected Labour MP for Ellesmere Port and Neston in May 2015.

I am proud to have been elected again in December 2019 as your Member of Parliament.  I will make sure the people of Ellesmere Port and Neston are represented with energy and passion to ensure we get the very best for our constituency.

Neil, as political officer, spends a lot of his time working with the Labour Party politicians in the region. The Labour Party is the party of the Trade Unions, so engagement between the GMB Trade union and the Labour party is essential to meet the needs of our membership.

Neil took this opportunity to ask a few questions and discuss current affairs, including

Fire & Rehire

Boris Partygate

Social Housing

Food Banks
