GMB UNION STAND IN SOLIDARITY WITH TRANS

Reports suggest transphobic attacks have soared in recent years in England and Wales, trebling from 550 reported incidents to 1,650.
All over the world trans rights are under attack, countries such as Brazil and Poland have seen the election of right wing leaders with an explicitly anti LGBT agenda. Shockingly so far in 2020 at least 33 transgender or gender nonconforming people were fatally shot, or killed by other violent means because of their gender identity. The majority of these were black and Latinx transgender women. Often these stories go unreported or misreported and so the real size of the problem of violence against trans people is potentially larger globally.

We have been informed that members working within Manchester Fayre (Manchester City Council school meals provider) have been told that the council is going to consider at Executive Committee on the 11th of November no longer providing a School Meals Service from September 2021.
In a nutshell this means that all staff will be either TUPED to their individual school or the school would have to choose their own provider.
