Dear colleagues (Roger Burnley), I want to start by saying thank you for the fantastic service you gave our vulnerable customers yesterday. Generally, the feedback from customers has been great and I’m sure you will all have heard stories to make you feel proud.
For the moment, if colleagues are being asked for their occupation by schools or nurseries they should quote ‘Food Supply Chain – Asda’.
Today has been an even busier day in our stores, if we can imagine that, and it has been especially challenging in central London. Following today's IMG we have reviewed what steps we need to take to maintain everyone’s safety and have taken some decisions today that I wanted to share with you.
The demands on supermarkets and the extraordinary change in our customers’ shopping behaviour have been – and continue to be – truly incredible.
Dear colleagues, You don’t need me to tell you that the last week has been unlike any we have experienced in all of our years in retail. The demands on supermarkets and the extraordinary change in our customers’ shopping behaviour have been – and continue to be – truly incredible.
As the media coverage surrounding coronavirus continues, we want to provide an update to give all colleagues the reassurance that we’re continuing to monitor the situation closely. Our number one focus remains the health and welfare of our colleagues and our customers.
From care and NHS workers to airport and energy staff, schools and people working in supermarkets and so many other jobs, we know GMB members are on the frontline of the coronavirus emergency.
Our priorities as your union are:
To Keep members safe
Dear Colleague, Over the past week and last few days the coronavirus has intensified and we expect there will be further advice and updates from the government and from Public Health England in the coming days and weeks.
GMB Union will always fight tooth and nail to protect our members' jobs and their terms and conditions
GMB, the union for Asda workers, has responded to reports Walmart are to sell a controlling stake in the UK supermarket.
