GMB Trade Union Members and Officers volunteered to assist the North West TUC and their touring Austerity Uncovered Bus. The bus has visited Manchester,Salford and Liverpool in our Region over the last two days. The team heard compelling and heartbreaking stories from members of the public who have bourne the brunt of the Tories attack on Public Services and Benefits over the last 3 years.
We wanted to try and talk to as many members of the public as possible about what austerity is really like for them – from redundancies and pay freezes to benefit changes and foodbanks. We wanted to use these real stories to document just what life is like under the Tory government’s austerity agenda.
