TRAGEDY CHANTING GETTING OUT OF HAND
The beginning of this week saw the largest strike in NHS history take place, as our paramedics and blood and transplant members joined the RCNs nurses on picket lines across England. For over 70 years, the Conservative Party has made a conscious effort to attack and undermine the essential service the NHS provides, through backdoor privatisation and barbaric austerity measures.
GMB Union continues to call for the Tories to get out of Westminster and make way for a Labour government that can deliver for the country.
Nadhim Zahawi, MP for Stratford-on-Avon, has held more positions in the Tory Party cabinet than perhaps any other MP; from vaccines to education to the economy, Zahawi’s CV must be chock-full. However, despite all his experience, in recent weeks, his 2-month stint as Chancellor of the Exchequer under the capsizing Boris Johnson government in the summer of 2022, has been of major interest.
It is apparent that Sunak and the rest of his party are gravely concerned about unions, the hard-working, decent people they represent and the general public's resounding support.

‘Now is the winter of our discontent made glorious summer by this sun of York’ utters the disillusioned Richard III in Shakespeare's tragedy baring the same name. Coincidentally, the Prime Minister Rishi Sunak – another delusional demagogue – is the Member of Parliament for Richmond (York’s), and his premiership should also be considered a tragedy; however, not for himself, but for the inhabitants of the British Isles.
The Conservative Job: This is the Self Preservation Party
GMB Union continues to staunchly support and champion workers’ rights, alongside all equality and diversity related matters, and condemns FIFA, Qatar and all those reaping the benefits of this blood-soaked tournament.
Beneath the glitz and glamour of FIFA and Qatar’s 2022 World Cup, an undercurrent of prejudice and hostility towards basic human rights and decency is omnipresent. From the several countries decisions to drop the One Love armband, to the hypocrite executives in charge of FIFA, this year’s tournament is gaining volumes of notoriety, but for all the wrong reasons.
In 1993, during the party conference in Blackpool, then Conservative Prime Minister John Major announced the Back to Basics campaign.
Following a dubious leadership contest, last week saw the appointment of yet another Tory Party leader and unelected British Prime Minister in the space of a few months. However, despite a change in leadership, the Conservative Party remains the same; untruthful, untrustworthy, and unfit to govern.
In a catastrophic but nonetheless expected turn of events, Liz Truss’ premiership has come crashing down. Embarrassingly, an iceberg lettuce outlasted the office of Prime Minister.
