Our campaign is working. After nearly 9,000 Asda colleagues told us what they think of the recent Contract 6 proposals, and after sending a clear message with a mass demonstration outside Asda HQ, the company is having to do some serious thinking.
Your feedback was clear: you're not prepared to accept the contract proposals in their current form. And so the GMB national negotiating team have challenged all aspects of the contract proposals in discussions with ASDA management.
There has been unprecedented GMB Asda activity across the UK. Large numbers of Asda colleagues are attending GMB workplace and branch meetings, GMB organisers are visiting stores and National Reps getting around their region and pushing the GMB counter proposals in negotiations with Asda.
We will fight to protect and enhance our members' terms and conditions and the GMB counter proposals provide a platform for a good Asda contract.
The next collective consultation meetings are on Thursday 30th May and Tuesday 4th June and other dates are being planned. We will consult with GMB reps about the best way forward and on a date for further demos if the negotiations are not productive.
We will send these out once they’ve been finalised and keep you informed and involved in forthcoming activities.
