GMB union update on Manchester Fayre Update

We have been informed that members working within Manchester Fayre (Manchester City Council school meals provider) have been told that the council is going to consider at Executive Committee on the 11th of November no longer providing a School Meals Service from September 2021.

In a nutshell this means that all staff will be either TUPED to their individual school or the school would have to choose their own provider.

Masks are now MANDATORY, GMB union advises ASDA members

At the start of the pandemic we were overwhelmed with calls from members concerned at the lack of PPE/ screens masks etc, no monitoring of social distancing & excessive numbers of customers in stores

We pushed the Company to provide everything you needed to minimize the risks& whilst they were a bit slow off the mark at the beginning, they have done what they needed to do under Government guidelines

Local government services pay agreement 2020-21, GMB union update

Pay

Agreement has been reached between the National Employers and the NJC Trade Union Side on rates of pay applicable from 1 April 2020.

GMB trade union and UNISON both voted to accept whilst Unite voted to reject. However, in line with the Constitution of the NJC, Unite accepts the collective majority decision of the other unions that the pay award will now be implemented.
