Social care in England has bleak future on £800m cuts

Social care in England is facing a bleak future despite planned changes as services have been forced into budget cuts, council chiefs say. Research by the Association of Directors of Adult Social Services showed £800m was likely to be taken from the £16bn budget this year. The group warned it meant "the bleak outlook becomes even bleaker".

NPowers £100m tax dodge

GMB members at Crane Building Services continue their strike!

GMB North West & Irish Region

GMB Trade Union members at Crane Building Services ( Valve and Meter supplier to National Grid and other Utility Companies) are continuing their Strike Action from 10 pm Sunday night until 10 pm on Tuesday 30th April.  This will be their 4th and 5th days of action as well as the continuous overtime ban for the duration of the dispute.

Parliamentary Report into Blacklisting: The Scandal Grows

GMB North West & Irish Region

Today saw publication of the interim parliamentary report on blacklisting by the Scottish Select Affairs Committee. In its statement released today, the committee says that the major construction firms that established and funded a systematic blacklist of construction industry workers appear to be continuing to avoid taking full responsibility for their actions.
