GMB young members at Tolpuddle
28 July 2017

This year, our chair, Ruth Pitchford attended Tolpuddle Festival as a part of the GMB Young Members history school and enjoyed the whole experience. The young members were given the chance to explore the village where the Tolpuddle Martyrs once lived and worked. From the church’s to where they ministered on Sunday Mornings to the tree where the 6 workers met.

The festival itself was an experience for everyone from watching the play on Friday night regarding ‘Daredevil rides to Jarama’ to enjoying burgers cooked by the General Sec Tim Roache and Southern Regional Sec Paul Maloney. The protest on the Sunday was by far the most enjoyable with GMB holding a strong presence with all the banners and attendees, followed by a speech from Labour Leader, Jeremy Corbyn.
