From the 27th February to the 1st March, North West and Ireland sent a delegation to the National Equalities Conference, ‘Equality Activists Growing GMB’, as a part of this delegation – Ruth Pitchford, who hold the youth strand seat on the REF attended.
Over the 3 day conference, there were lots of motions, speakers and workshops, including a conference address from the General Secretary Tim Roache and the hosting regions Regional Secretary Warren Kenny. Lots of the North West and Irelands delegation got up to move motions, second motions.
During this conference, a motion is specially selected to go towards GMB Congress and there are also delegates to the TUC Conference and the Labour Party Conference. Motion 18 – “Inequalities of working dogs and VAT” was elected to be forwarded to Congress, and our own delegate Ruth Pitchford was elected as the female delegate to attend the Labour Party Conference later this year.
