Become a GMB trade union representative

Why not become a GMB Union Representative in 2015

8 December 2015

The GMB has a network of union representatives supporting members in the work place, ordinary union members who have put themselves forward to help others with the complete support of the GMB. In our region, North West & Irish, we have a training department based at the regional office in Liverpool. Training can take place here, but also at the other offices around the region and Northern Ireland too.

There are three main types of union representatives,

  1. Representative, supporting members with work related issues
  2. Health & Safety Representative, maintaining a safe working environment
  3. Union Learning Representative, helping learning and career development of members

What are the benefits for you?

  • Training by the GMB, Induction Course to start with ongoing training and development
  • Support from a network of other representatives across the region
  • Legal Entitlement to take off time from your job for union duties
  • Opportunities to attend National Congress, Regional Conferences and Events
  • Develop your own personal skills and confidence
