GMB TRADE UNION WIN FOR FUTURE WINTER GRITTING ARRANGEMENTS IN KNOWSLEY

GMB Knowsley K28 branch update about winter gritting

A number of issues were raised by members which we attempted to iron out with management, some agreements were met swiftly, however, there was still one major issue that we couldn't get agreement on in relation to the rest periods which stood at 7 hours. We consulted GMB members who made it clear to us that the rest period was not sufficient and wanted it to be extended in order to maintain work-life balance we also raised health and safety concerns not just to our members but also the residents of Knowsley.

GMB trade union respects fallen colleagues, Workers Memorial Day at Bill Smith House

GMB trade union mark Workers Memorial Day 2019

2019 Workers Memorial Day at GMB North West & Irish region

Each year GMB remembers the workers lost, on Workers Memorial Day and this year we gathered at Bill Smith House to pay our respects to remember fallen colleagues. In 2019 we should not lose a many as 50 000 people a year to work related illness, that is just not acceptable. Every worker has the right to return home safely from work and the GMB trade union will maintain pressure on employers to keep our members safe at work.
