GMB - the Union for people working in all areas of the health service - are continuing our campaign for fair pay and secure terms in the NHS and we are consulting our members through a postal ballot to determine the strength of feeling and what action you may wish to take after 87% of members rejected the employers offer.
The GMB negotiating team met with ASDA management on Monday 23rd July 2018.
Progress has been made in recent negotiations, however, GMB rejected the offers below because they fall short of the current rate of inflation (3.4 %) and average pay increases in the private sector.
Some of The GMB workplace representatives from the GMW1 Branch donned the Emily Pankhurst T-shirts to commemorate 100 years of Women having the right to vote. We have come along way over the years but still have further ground to cover.

GMB CELEBRATES THE ‘BIG 7TEA’ ON THE 70TH BIRTHDAY OF THE NHS ASKING THE PEOPLE OF LIVERPOOL TO RAISE A CUPPA TO OUR NATIONAL TREASURE.
GMB Activists were out in force in Liverpool City Centre today helping shoppers raise a cup of tea to the NHS on its 70th birthday and were handing out cups of tea in commemorative mugs on a beautiful sunny day in busy shopping area.
As Bolton sweltered in the unseasonably warm heatwave that’s been affecting the entire country, Bolton 23 Branch Stewards working in frontline council services in Bolton Council’s Department of Place, were contacted by GMB members with concerns about the extreme working conditions.
Our S70 Security Branch entered a team in this event in support of CarersNI. It was a great effort both on the water and off. The team was beaten in the semi-final by the eventual winners. A total of £1000 was handed over to this very worthy cause.

The annual event, which started on Sunday, took in 3 sectional conferences this year (Commercial Services, Manufacturing and Public Services) and more than 50 delegates from our region took part in shaping the industrial, political, and social policy of the union.
