Arthur, who was the clear underdog, had decided to stand simply because “someone told him he couldn’t”.

GMB trade union North West & Irish region recently said farewell to one of our long serving and hardest working Union Branch Secretaries, Arthur Moss, someone who, without any shadow of a doubt, had earned the title ‘Legend’ many times over.

Increasing customers in store at ASDA

GMB trade union members at ASDA have concerns over safety in ASDA stores for staff and customers

Since the beginning of June we have had an increasing number of GMB union members contacting us, who are very anxious and concerned over what appears to be ever increasing numbers of customers in stores. Both myself and our National Union Reps, Cath and Jane have raised informally through the correct process, but the calls reporting this have increased mainly from the Manchester cluster stores, although not exclusively Manchester.

BENTLEY ANNOUNCEMENT OF 1,000 JOB LOSSES IS ANOTHER MAJOR BLOW FOR THE CAR INDUSTRY AND MANUFACTURING IN THE NORTH WEST

1000 jobs to be cut at Bentley in Crewe

GMB trade union have reacted to Friday’s announcement by luxury car maker Bentley that they are seeking to make 1,000 staff redundant at their factory in Crewe Cheshire describing it as another bitter blow to manufacturing in the region at the worst possible time.

Bentley currently employs 4,200 staff at Crewe with the proposed redundancies accounting for around a quarter of their employees. The company have said the redundancies will initially be voluntary.
