GMB union success Government back down on exit pay

GMB trade union first challenged the proposed introduction of the exit cap back in 2015

Your union, GMB union, has been successful in making the government back down on the exit cap that was brought in last year across England.

On 4th November 2020 the Government imposed regulations which put a £95k cap on all public sector exit payments. This pernicious change in the law affected workers in the Local Government Pension Scheme because the cap included Pension Strain Costs

End Fire and Re-hire at British Gas say GMB union

British Gas profit of £229 million for its domestic heating business, six months to 30 June 2020 – up 27%

BRITISH GAS SHOULD RECOGNISE THAT THE ONLY WAY TO END THE DISRUPTION THEY HAVE PROVOKED AND SETTLE THIS DISPUTE IS TO TAKE FIRE AND RE-HIRE PAY CUTS OFF THE TABLE.  

If not, our members are set for a further 5 days of action commencing on Wednesday 20thJanuary.

British Gas workers rejected the company's fire and rehire pay cuts with an overwhelming 89% ‘yes’ vote for strike action.
