ASDA UPDATE - GMB UNION REPS GET RESULT, THANK YOU PAYMENT TIME TO BE PAID ON ACTUAL HOURS

GMB union ASDA update on pay

This payment will be calculated on actual hours worked, based on the average of actual weekly worked hours, between Sunday 15th March 2020 and Saturday 16th May 2020 (or contracted hours whichever is the higher)

GMB ASDA union national retail and distribution reps have been pushing for the thank you payment time be paid at actual hours, so this is good news for all their endeavours.

Since the beginning of the coronavirus outbreak and the fast changing nature of things, I've wanted to communicate with you on a daily basis to make sure you're getting everything you need – when you need it. After Easter, if things continue to settle I'm going to step-back these notes, to three times a week, so you can focus on supporting your colleagues and serving your customers.

Our drivers are out risking their health and the health of their families

Translink drivers are out risking their health and the health of their families to deliver essential services

GMB, the Union for the Northern Ireland transport provider Translink, have called on the public to avoid using public transport unless ‘absolutely necessary’ to protect drivers and other essential workers.

The union argues that drivers are risking their health and the health of their families to transport NHS workers, care workers and other essential workers during the pandemic.

COMPANIES TAKING ADVANTAGE OF COVID-19 TO STOP WORKERS FROM JOINING A TRADE UNION

GMB trade union helping workers during COVID-19

We will not allow these employers to profit unfairly on the back of these workers

The GMB North West & Irish region has been made aware of companies stopping members and new recruits from joining a trade union, this is absolutely not acceptable and something we are taking very seriously. We are focussing our attention on these companies, who have a legal requirement, to make sure workers are represented and fairly treated.

GMB UNION VUNERABLE MEMBERS ALLOWED REDUCED HOURS

Vulnerable colleagues who want to work reduced hours

We know that many colleagues who fall into the vulnerable category would like to continue working, but on reduced hours. We’re happy for them to explore this option, but it must be approved by their GSM/SM and their SMP, who will make sure the new working arrangement is recorded accurately.

GMB WELCOMES AMEY CHANGE OF HEART ON CORONAVIRUS SICK PAY

GMB welcome AMEY pay announcement

GMB has welcomed the change of heart by Amey senior management after the CEO of the infrastructure support service provider, Amanda Fisher, wrote to staff to inform them that following GMB raising the matter with the company they had reviewed their policy and would now pay any staff affected by the Covid-19 virus full pay if they are ill or self-isolated.

GMB Reps, including Paul Thompson in the water industry, lobbied hard on behalf of our members to bring about this result when the company had previously informed staff they would only receive SSP.
