Dear Colleague, Over the past week and last few days the coronavirus has intensified and we expect there will be further advice and updates from the government and from Public Health England in the coming days and weeks.

GMB union celebrates LGBT+ History Month
An event organised by the Regional Equalities Group was held at Bill Smith House in Liverpool on Friday Feb 14th. A day to celebrate LGBT+ History Month and the progress the region is making supporting equality for members.
Christian Owens, Detective Sargent on the Merseyside Police, was first to share his story. Christian only recently completed the final stages of his surgery late in 2019, after a 10 year journey transforming from female to male. He undertook this journey as an active police officer, bravely pushing forward through al the challenges.

As LGBT History Month 2020 kicks off, here at JUST A BALL GAME? (JBG?) we are happy to announce that the only ‘out’ gay South African full-time footballer, Makapanstad Romans’ goalkeeper Phuti Lekoloane joins us as a patron.

For some time now, The GMB and colleagues from Unite have been in discussions with management to try and resolve outstanding issues & concerns raised by our members in the waste services on the Task and Finish agreement, One of the main issues for our members and myself was 'forced overtime'.
