STOP BLAMING WOMEN FOR CRIMES COMMITTED AGAINST THEM

GMB union says stop blaming women

Most men are our allies and would welcome a positive move that would prevent us from being victims, calling out acts of misogyny where they see it.

Isn’t it About Time we Stopped Blaming Women for the Crimes Being Committed Against Them?

Almost all women, know a woman who has been raped or sexually assaulted but how many men know a rapist/attacker? Could this be due to the fact that many are not reported by the victim, for fear of blame?

Data from the UN shows that 97% of young women have been sexually harassed.

I BEND, A POEM READ BY GMB UNION EQUALITIES GROUP FOR INTERNATIONAL WOMENS DAY

GMB union regional equalities group International Women's Day

We felt this poem illustrated exactly the mood of many women, with the feelings and emotions of the poem being felt by the hundreds of thousands of women who have shouldered much of the burden.

GMB union Equalities Group poem, I Bend by Selena Odom

GMB union Equalities group read a poem, I Bend by Selena Odom , for International Women’s Day.

As we celebrate International Womens Day, the womens network looked at the role women have played throughout the pandemic. We identified that it is women who are more likely to have taken on those extra caring responsibilities. Many families prior to lockdown moved vulnerable family members into their homes to form bubbles, the majority of the extra work and caring for this will have fallen on women.

BRITISH GAS WORKERS IN LIVERPOOL VOLUNTEER TO HELP LOCAL GOOD CAUSES WHILE ON STRIKE

British Gas members volunteering

Last year while on furloughed, British Gas voluntarily worked within the Liverpool community, delivering food parcels to those in need on behalf of the Trussell Trust.

These workers would rather be out doing what they are good at - providing a first-class service to all their customers, says GMB Union

Striking GMB British Gas workers in the North West are volunteering to help good causes during the industrial action.

The workers – determined to help good causes on behalf of the community while they’ve downed tools – will be at Kensington Fields Community Centre, in Liverpool, on Saturday.

They will be joined by Kim Johnson, MP for Liverpool Riverside and Paula Barker, MP for Liverpool Wavertree.

GMB UNION SUCCESSFUL IN MAKING GOVERNMENT BACK DOWN ON EXIT CAP

GMB union success Government back down on exit pay

GMB trade union first challenged the proposed introduction of the exit cap back in 2015

Your union, GMB union, has been successful in making the government back down on the exit cap that was brought in last year across England.

On 4th November 2020 the Government imposed regulations which put a £95k cap on all public sector exit payments. This pernicious change in the law affected workers in the Local Government Pension Scheme because the cap included Pension Strain Costs

What is the strain cost?
