Campaigning for Ambulance Staff to retire at 60

GMB North West & Irish Region
It is some two years since the Hutton report in to public sector pensions was published.  Since that time the ASU\GMB Trade Union has continued to argue and press for retirement of ambulance crews at 60 on full pension, in line with our police and fire service colleagues.
We have persuaded the NHS to look at the potential impact of longer working on employees such as ambulance staff.  Work is currently ongoing on this.

GMB North West & Irish Region

Politicians said the UK's largest food chain should offer staff minimum guaranteed hours, while also suggesting that the latest revelation increases the pressure on the business secretary, Vince Cable, to ensure that an ongoing review of the contracts is far-reaching.

Save our NHS

GMB North West & Irish Region
The GMB Trade Union, Britain’s general Trade Union, have been campaigning to stop the fragmentation of the NHS.  Across the UK there are campaigns to raise awareness of the damage being done by the Coalition Government to what is arguably one of the last great British institutions left. It is not surprising it was the envy of the world and yet our own Government want to sell it off piece by piece.

GMB Trade Union furious over blacklisting

GMB North West & Irish Region
A Trade union leader has expressed ‘anger and sadness’ over the blacklisting of East Lancashire construction workers.

Five unknown workers from Blackburn and four from Chorley were among 224 on the national list used by a subsidiary of construction firm Carillon, seized by the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).
It was one of many retained in a raid by the office of the construction industry-funded organisation, the Consulting Association, after intelligence suggested a breach of the Data Protection Act.

Hold the date ...29 September

GMB North West & Irish Region
You will be aware that the TUC General Council has called for a March and rally at the Conservative Party Conference. Final details are being put together this week but it is envisaged that the march will assemble from 11am in Liverpool Road on Sunday 29th September, moving off at midday, and ending with a rally at Whitworth Park from 2pm to 4pm. Coaches should be able to drop off at Water Street/Liverpool Road, then move to a parking area adjacent to Whitworth Park for pick ups . Once we have final clearance on the full route and logistics we will circulate this.
