GMB Ambulance Trade Union forced to take strike action
30 July 2018

GMB Ambulance Trade Union members are forced to take industrial action, both Continuous and Discontinuous.

1. Continuous action short of a strike:

The action short of a strike is intended to be continuous consisting of not providing cover for external events (football matches etc.). The intended date for any of the affected employees to begin to take part in the action is: Wednesday 6th June 2018.

This is ongoing action that has been in place since that date and we would expect those members in dispute not to provide cover for such events either as a duty or overtime.

2. Discontinuous action short of a strike:

The action short of a strike is intended to be discontinuous consisting of no overtime to be worked on the following intended dates (which are the totality of the dates that have been decided upon to date) for any of the affected employees to take part in the action:

This action begins at 1800 hours on Friday 27th July 2018 and runs through to 2000 hours Monday 30th July 2018.

This action will be repeated every weekend through until Monday 29th October 2018.

We would therefore expect our members who are in dispute to not cover weekend overtime until November 2018.

3. Discontinuous strike action:

The strike action is intended to be discontinuous and will include the following dates (which are the totality of dates that have been decided upon to date) for any of the affected employees to take part in the action:

Those dates and times are from 0600 hours on Saturday 28th July 2018 through to 0800 hours on Sunday 29th July 2018.

This strike action will be of 26 hour duration and will be repeated every Saturday though to Sunday until 28th October 2018.

Strike benefit

The GMB pays a strike benefit of £30 a day to those members who are taking lawful strike action and the Branch has established a hardship fund to support members at this time. To claim the benefit members taking action will need to sign the strike book at picket lines on the day of the action. Anyone wishing to make a claim or donation to the hardship fund should make contact in the first instance with Tony Dunn Branch welfare officer on 07917260262

Picket lines

Picket lines will be established on all weekends and notice of locations will be published once we have notified the Trust and the Police.

Thank you for your continued support.
