GMB Trade Uion thought you might be interested in UKIP's latest NHS policy, charging to skip A&E waiting times... It appears it is not just the mainstream Politicians that seem to be out of touch with reality.

Right Wing UKIP Leader Nigel Farage has endorsed an article which proposes charging people to skip A&E waiting times, as being written by a 'UKIP health spokesperson'.
In his article John Stanley, a surgeon and UKIP candidate, argues that people requiring non-urgent treatment should be given the option of paying to avoid waiting: Let's get this right, in times of severe austerity being driven down our throats, decent working people will be pushed down the waiting list in the NHS because someone privileged enough can afford to jump the queue.

And there was me thinking the our National Health Service was free for all.
To implement this system proposed by UKIP would mean the end of the National Health Service and the beginning of Fee system health service where only the wealthiest get the treatment, whilst the rest of us will have to wait till the pay queue has been exhausted.

UKIP say, "We should accept that if a triaging clinician feels we don’t need treating within two hours required for standard cases then we be either willing to pay or willing to wait longer so cases most deserving are treated best. People should pay a higher charge if they haven’t registered with a GP as being directed back to primary care avoids unnecessary A&E visits.”

Please remember when reading this that the present Government class knee and hip replacements surgery as non - urgent treatment, so for our basic health needs outside of imminent death, the service we will receive will be decided on the size of our wallets.

As the saying goes - What UKIP are saying today, will be Tory Party policy tomorrow.

We all need to be careful of what you wish for come the 2015 General Election.
