GMB North West & Irish Region
19 July 2016

If you are a GMB member who has joined before 12th January 2016, and have agreed to pay the political levy as part of your membership fee, then you are eligible to become an affiliated supporter of the Labour Party and vote in the upcoming leadership election.

To become an affiliated supporter of the Labour Party and to vote in the leadership election, GMB members must complete an affiliation form at https://support.labour.org.uk/. Members have until noon on 8th August to do so.

However, if you are a GMB member who joined AFTER 11th January 2016 OR you joined before 12th January but DO NOT pay the political levy, then you will not be able to vote in the Labour Leadership election as an affiliated supporter. You can, though, still vote as a registered supporter:

The Labour Party is insisting that to sign up as a registered supporter you will need to pay a fee of £25. There is a 48-hour window for signing up which begins at 5pm on Monday 18th July and ends at 5pm on Wednesday 20th July. You will find information on how to sign up as a registered supporter on the Labour Party’s website at https://www.labour.org.uk/ and clicking the ‘election information’ button on the homepage.
