Members of the GMB Trade-Union in the Bradford district are to be consulted over an offer to increase Council workers’ wages following a three year pay freeze.

Two options are on offer – a one per cent pay rise plus an extra day of paid annual leave on the minimum entitlement and other changes, or a one per cent increase on pay points four to ten, and a 0.6 per cent increase on grades above 11. This would come into effect from April.

Brian Strutton, GMB Trade-Union national secretary for public services, said: “GMB has been arguing very strongly that the three-year pay freeze in local government must end and at least we have achieved that.”

Union members in Bradford will be asked if they want to accept either option or reject both.
