Hello; my name as Harvey Mcclelland. I am 7 years old and from Bangor Co Down. I was born 10 weeks premature and as a result suffered bleeds to my brain causing a condition called Quadriplegic Cerebral Palsy and epilepsy and Global developmental delay. This means all four limbs and body is affected and are very tight due to high muscle tone and sore from muscle spasms. From birth I have been attending Physic, occupational therapy and speech and language therapy and continuous hospital appointments from many specialists. This will always be part of my life and require 24-hour care. I have had lots of hip operations and often get Botox injections into my limbs to help reduce the tightness.
I am wheelchair dependent and need specialist equipment for all my positioning. Despite all my daily challenges, I am a happy bubbly little boy who loves to join in and play with the help from mum, dad or my big sister.
Mummy and Daddy has been fundraising for many years now to help fund specialist equipment, treatments or house adaptions for me that unfortunately are not available through the NHS due to lack of funding. I have a just giving page set up through a registered children's charity (TREE OF HOPE CHILDRENS CHARITY}. Through having donations made mum has been able to fund to date a wheelchair, physic equipment, special needs swing, private physic sessions and sensory lights.
I keep growing and my needs change as I’m getting older and outgrowing my equipment, so mum and dad needs to try fund for larger equipment to make me more comfortable.
